The Las Vegas Strip is surprisingly quiet during the day as it is not until the night that all the action starts.  Apart from the incredible heat and sun (it is in the middle of the desert after all) it is quite pleasant to walk up one side and back down the other calling in all the hotels and casinos as you go.
