In March 2004 I wanted to go for a long weekend somewhere, but I also wanted to avoid the standard European cities that I have been to in the past, so I looked for something a bit different and decided on Iceland.

It is just a 4 hour flight from the UK so that meant it did not eat to much into our holiday time, I also wanted to show Sarah the Northern Lights, something she had never seen before.

Unfortunately because the weather was not very good we did not get to see them.

We stayed in a small hotel in Reykjavik, and went on a a couple of excursions into the mountains to see the geysers and waterfalls as well as taking a trip to the Blue Lagoon.

Just click on the link below to see some of the photographs that I took when I was there.

If you are planning a trip to Iceland I would highly recommend this Lonely Planet guide, I found it very useful whilst over there.  You can order it direct from Amazon.com by clicking HERE or from Amazon.co.uk their British site by clicking HERE.
You may also be interested in the Rough Guide to Iceland, I did not use it on my trip but I have heard nothing by praise for these guidebooks.  You can order it direct from Amazon.com by clicking HERE or from Amazon.co.uk their British site by clicking HERE.
