It was only a matter of time before we went to
Florida again, this was to be the tenth time that I had been to this
state, the first being in 1989. Whenever I tell anyone I am going
back to Orlando they always ask me why? the reason is that I am a big
kid. Rather that the usual two weeks, we decided to spend three in
the hope of doing a lot more things, and relaxing a lot more when we were
there. |
| August and September 2004 was also a record
time for Hurricanes, with Frances, Ivan, Charley, Bonnie and Jeanne.
We where there when two of these hit, the first Ivan missed the Disney
area so there was no problems for us but the second Jeanne passed directly
overhead which meant we were confined to our room for a day. To be
perfectly honest I did not think that it was that big an event, just a lot
of panic by people, just a long as you stayed indoors nothing bad could
happen to you. What made me laugh was before it hit we went to the
supermarket to stock up on water and snacks to last us through the next
day. The amount of people panic buying was ridiculous some people had shopping trolleys overflowing with food, I don't care how hungry you
get you can't eat that much in one day, this of course meant that queues
reached to the back of the store. The hurricane itself also did not
seam that impressive and I have seen more powerful storms during my trips
to Norway.
Apart from the hurricane the holiday was very enjoyable, we did all the
usual things, theme parks, water parks, roller coasters, etc. This
year I was determined to do something new which was a Segway tour around
EPCOT center, more details of can be found in that section below.
Our hotel for the trip was the Disney All Star
Music, it is one of the
Disney value resorts and although it is about double the price of a hotel
on International Drive I think that it is great value for money as it
includes admission to all the Disney parks, the use of Disney
transportation on site and you can enter the parks an hour early.
This was the fifth time that I have stayed in a Disney hotel and I can't
see myself staying in any other resort in the Orlando area.
