Doug Scott is one of the most experienced mountaineers in British history. He started climbing at the age of 12 and hasn't stopped since. He climbed the South West face of Everest with Dougal Haston and survived after breaking both his legs near the summit of the Ogre (24,000ft) and the eight day descent back to base camp. He has also made numerous first ascents of unclimbed peaks I was fortunate enough to attend a lecture given by Doug Scott at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl back in February 2001 where he talked about his various expeditions. Doug Scott has written two excellent books "Shisha Pangma" and "Himalayan Climber" |
